Top 10 JEE Main Preparation Tips for 2026

1. Build a Realistic Daily Schedule

Instead of studying for 12 hours without a plan, break your day into focused 90-minute blocks with short breaks in between. Assign fixed slots to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics every single day rather than one subject per day.

2. Master NCERT Before Anything Else

A large share of JEE Main questions, especially in Chemistry, are rooted directly in NCERT concepts. Read every line, every diagram and every in-text example before moving to reference books.

3. Solve Previous Year Papers Under Timed Conditions

Attempt at least the last 10 years of JEE Main papers in exam-like conditions. This helps you get comfortable with the actual difficulty level and question pattern rather than just theory.

4. Keep a Formula and Mistake Notebook

Maintain one notebook only for formulas and another for mistakes you repeatedly make in mock tests. Revising these two notebooks in the final week is far more useful than re-reading entire chapters.

5. Prioritise High-Weightage Chapters

Chapters like Mechanics, Coordination Compounds, and Calculus consistently carry high weightage. Identify these using previous year trends and give them proportionally more practice time.

6. Take Full-Length Mock Tests Weekly

Simulate the real 3-hour exam at least once a week. This builds stamina, improves time management across sections, and highlights weak areas early enough to fix them.

7. Analyse Every Mock Test Properly

Scoring a mock test is not the goal — analysing it is. Spend at least as much time reviewing mistakes as you did taking the test itself.

8. Do Not Neglect Chemistry

Chemistry is often the easiest to score high in in a short time because of its factual, NCERT-based nature. Do not let Physics and Maths consume all your revision time.

9. Sleep and Health Matter More Than You Think

Sleep deprivation directly reduces recall and problem-solving speed. Aim for 6–7 hours of quality sleep, especially in the final month.

10. Stay Consistent, Not Perfect

A consistent, moderate daily routine sustained over months beats an unsustainable intense routine that burns out after two weeks. Small, steady progress compounds.
